5 minutes: Jonny, Matty, a throbbing boil, & geek anthropology

No voice over, no edits, no music - just pure footage to start an editing experiment.

Thanks again to Jonny & Matty for the fun, animated conversation. NOTE: this clip starts with Jonny sharing his experience in an NYU program. And with this post an experiment takes flight: posting an unedited interview segment first, with subsequent edits posted to the same segment later.

Through this process, what do you crave in content on this particular clip...
e.g. more narration?
more follow-up questions to Jonny & Matty?
or another raw clip to compare to this one?

Love your thoughts!...with more raw bits tomorrow.

What I love best is how you see her responding to him, smiling at his seriousness, clearly loving him but also calling his bluff on a couple of things.

I think at the end of the clip you get into something really important...why DO these people love these geeks? How much are they like (or not like) the streotype?

It would be interesting to find out what attracted the geek to their mate too. When you explore what a geek is attracted to in temperment, personality, etc., you learn more about the geek as well.

These two are a riot. Excellent raw footage. But, honey, PLEASE use the tripod!! :)

Also, yes, you really are the "geek ethnobiologist". :)

Good follow up question: are geeks their own subculture, species, race?

She was sitting on one of our bouncy inflatable physioballs as she shot us. I asked Jill if she wanted to use the tripod, but she demured. I don't think it's too horribly distracting, but tripods definitely give a more pro look.
